Jano is my friend from high school. We know each other very well, actually, we were roommates on the college campus. Ultimately, we decided to study for a PhD together. Parting of the ways came after the studies, when we started to work for different companies – but we kept in touch and have been working on open source projects. I remember the days we were working on projects till midnight and then waking up in the morning to go to work. It lasted 3 months. It was not easy, but we were doing what we enjoyed. Later, Jano came up with a courageous idea – to start an IT company – and we decided to give it a try. So we quit our jobs and focused fully on Instea. When I look back, I see that we were in the right place at the right time–we were given an opportunity to participate in good projects and began to grow slowly but steadily. Obviously, we had ups and downs through the time, but we are still here (:D) and this is probably something that we did not expect at the beginning.
The main reason to start our own business was to do things differently than our competitors. We had a lot of experience from previous companies and we did not like the way they work. Personally, I hate when somebody tells me something is impossible. I then want to find a solution as quickly as possible and prove them wrong. I have always wanted to understand how things work, not just do them mechanically. As the time went on, my interest in how company works internally began to rise. How to get the sales deals, how to run the company, how to ensure client’s satisfaction. We had no clue about that stuff at the beginning and since we love to learn new things, we decided to try it. And it proved to be a good decision.
