Our new home-made wiki – implementation
We have built our own home-made wiki – both to reduce costs and to fit our new needs
Which company doesn't have its own wiki with important information like the office Wi-Fi password? We used a third-party service that worked well. We used it only infrequently (a few times a week), since our day-to-day project work had documentation in git or in customers' Confluence. So per-user pricing wasn't favourable for us.
Then came all the AI agents that could read the wiki if they had MCP access to it. That was another reason why we decided to build our own wiki with agentic development, as a small side project.
Implementation
The first step wasn't implementation. Starting from half a page of requirements, we iterated with the agent on the initial roadmap and technology decisions. Due to the infrequent usage pattern, we went with a serverless approach with Aurora DSQL and S3 as our data storage.
As the agentic harness, we used Superpowers together with other skills (both internal and third-party).
The initial implementation took roughly two weeks, though I spent only 20 hours on it. The rest was done by agents working after I left my computer. Telemetry shows that what I built on a standard subscription would have cost almost $700 at API prices.

Not bad for a full implementation (not just a PoC) containing import/migration functionality, CI/CD and backup & restore.
Validation
Basic tests were done during implementation, but we still needed to cross-check security, and the UI/UX was suboptimal. Some issues were caught by the agent itself when asked to review the UX (see the nice report it generated with screenshots below), but it still needed a human touch.

Then we let users play with the test system and collected feedback, which led to a few smaller improvements. Still, it took only about 5 hours of my time.
Wish us luck
Hopefully next week we'll set up the final production environment and switch to the new wiki. The most boring part will be removing obsolete documentation so we can start fresh. The documents need little bit of gardening. Unfortunately, the agent won't help much there.
In a month or two, expect another post on how it all turned out.
